Enjoy the interplay of two singer-songwriters who are frequent collaborators. Joe Peters' songs hearken back to a time when young people sought the experience of peace, love and adventure and expressed this search in their music. Many of Joe's songs are influenced by eastern philosophies and were written while living and working
overseas. Linda Hicks' music draws from the influences of bluegrass, old-time, Celtic, traditional, and
contemporary folk music. Rich Warren of Sing Out! Magazine says "Not only can she write, but she also knows how
to choose excellent songs and deliver them with sensitivity and conviction."

Open Mic Night with violinist and cultural ambassador William Harvey Benefits Afghanistan National Institute of Music

Open Mic Night brings out an array of talent each Thanksgiving weekend. Pros try out new material; aspiring
performers get a stage and warm reception. This year, proceeds from Open Mic Night will help train Afghan
children, including orphans and street children, in western classical music and traditional Afghan music. Violinist
William Harvey, a Juilliard graduate who founded Cultures in Harmony, teaches at the Afghanistan National
Institute of Music in Kabul. While visiting his native Indianapolis, William will give us a glimpse into his most recent
forum for cultural diplomacy.
NOTE: Performers should arrive at 6:00 to sign up for a 10-minute set.

Cosy Sheridan has been called "one of the era's finest and most thoughtful singer/songwriters." She has played
everywhere from Carnegie Hall to the Philadelphia Folk Festival and is the winner of numerous songwriting
awards. Her music has appeared in best-selling author Robert Fulghum's book Third Wish, as well as on The Dr.
Demento Show and NPR's Car Talk. In her critically acclaimed new CD Eros (WindRiver), Sheridan weaves a cycle of
songs about love.
Cosy Sheridan first appeared on the national folk scene in 1992 when she won the songwriting contests at both
the Kerrville Folk Festival and the Telluride Bluegrass Festival and released her critically acclaimed CD Quietly
Led on Waterbug Records. Folk Music Quarterly wrote: "When she's accepting her Grammy, we can say we knew
her when."
