Indy Folk Series plans to present our regular season: September 2021 – May 2022!
It is our fervent hope that we will be able to present limited capacity IN-PERSON events, with most concerts at our normal location, In addition, we intend to present most concerts via high-quality livestream, so that audience members will be able to choose, in advance of each concert, whether they wish to attend in-person or view the concert remotely.
As background, our venue’s home, Unitarian Universalist Church of Indianapolis (UUI,) closed to in-person events in March 2020, Limited capacity in-person church services resumed on July 4, 2021. UUI’s phased reopening plan is based on the current rate of community spread in the Indianapolis Metro area. if at any time the data shows that the rate of community spread has increased to an unsafe level, the church will again be closed to in-person events. If that should happen, Indy Folk Series would close to in-person events as well, but would plan to present a livestream concert from UUI with a limited tech crew.
UUI is using the following data to guide its decision making process: www.CovidActNow.org
This reopening plan is significantly more cautious that what may be allowed by the local health department. The Indy Folk Series will gladly follow all safety protocols established by UUI, which at this time include limiting capacity, masking, collecting information for contact tracing, and eliminating food and beverage service at concerts. In addition, the Indy Folk Series Board of Directors has chosen to require that:
COVID vaccines are required for performers, volunteers, and in-person audience members. Audience members who are not vaccinated may not attend in-person events, but are encouraged to view via remote livestream.
We understand this may be controversial. This decision was not made lightly, and the intent is to protect the most vulnerable among us, We hope that you will understand, respect, and abide by this decision.
There are many details yet to be finalized. For example, we will be implementing a new ticketing system that will allow for limited capacity for in-person events, collect required information for contact tracing, and offer audience members the option to view concerts via livestream,. We will also be simplifying our ticket pricing structure.
Details will be announced as soon as they are available. Please bear with us as our volunteers work to re-invent our concert series from the ground up in order to accommodate the “new normal” that is the future of live music!
Please know that our primary concern has always been the health, safety, and enjoyment of our audience, volunteers, and performers. We have missed you all so much and cannot wait to gather again when it is possible to do so. We are optimistic that we will see you in September!
