If you were lucky enough to catch the Tanahill Weavers’ sold out show at the Indy Folk Series back in 2023, you surely remember their energetic, eclectic, and enthusiastic performance as a kind of musical miracle: a celebration of the heritage of the Celtic people that feels utterly relevant today, “brought it into the modern world, vitally alive and kicking,” as one critic has described their music. 

Named for the great Scottish poet Robert Tannahill, and with a nod to the historic textile industry in their hometown of Paisley, Scotland, the Tannahill Weavers (or “Tannies” as they are known among friends) were founded in 1968.  Since that time, and through an evolving line-up of musicians, their unique combination of traditional melodies on pipes, flute and fiddle, driving rhythms on guitar and bouzouki, and powerful three and four part vocal harmonies have given them National Treasure status at home and won them fame across the globe.  

From reflective ballads to foot-stomping reels and jigs, the variety and range of the material they perform is matched only by their enthusiasm and lively Celtic spirits. Don’t miss this opportunity to see traditional folk music made fresh, powerful, and inspiring!
